A few more members arrived in the morning – just a few, but it was not a full compliment. I’m not sure of the numbers (yet), but it was around 70 people (riders/partners) and around 60 bikes. Not all were Honda ST1100/1300s – we had a few ring-ins.
It was wet. The previous 2 days were just a teaser. Being a rally, there’s always a ride. This wasn’t a group ride (which I’m not fond of) but rather a “ride-to-eat”. Ie. make your own way to the destination – ours being lunch in Lawrence (I’d ridden past it on the opposite side of the river when I first rode into Wooli.
I chose to head back to Grafton first to stock up for the days ahead, then made my way there. Again – lovely country roads, taking it easy with the rain.
Lunch was finger food – all good; moving around the crowd catching up with folk I haven’t seen in a while, or only ever conversed with online.
Poor Wendy from Darwin…not used to the cold!
Heading back I took the ferry crossing nearby (then retracing my original Wooli path) – a first for me and the bike. Stroppy and JonnhYted lead the way with DBFive and myself backing them up.
The event dinner and presentation night was held at the pub next door to the caravan park. I took out the prize for the “furthest travelled to Wooli” – totaling 10,404 km in doing so. A close 2nd was WendyL from Darwin who set a few records of her own on the way (this will be edited when I get it right): a “Centreline 48” – riding from Darwin to Melbourne in 48 hours, and I think only the first woman to do it. PC and Navgirl took out the “Member of the year” – highly deserved.
The night was topped of by a presentation by Tex & Bundy – a team who ride the country for charities of all sorts – check them out on their Facebook page: here
