Well, that was a first.
Our plane was 2 hours late to depart due to the inbound plane from Perth being delayed because of bad weather.
However, the pilot managed to cut 45 minutes off the trip. That was most likely due to having 3 Nigerian (assumption) mid-20 women handcuffed in the back of the plane.
The were just “enjoying” themselves at first, but when they got a bit too rowdy some nearby passengers asked them to calm down and then the feathers began to fly…. verbal abuse, language, threats of violence, etc. They were in my row in the middle, but targeting the other side thankfully.
The Qantas crew were excellent – trying to keep the peace but one of them wouldn’t have it. Moments later they were surrounded by the crew (& an air marshall who didn’t hesitate to use a head-lock – do we call them that here?). Most adjacent passengers had been relocated by then.
They were eventually extricated from their seats, cuffed, & moved to the rear of the plane where they calmed down. They spent over 2 hours like that (ha ha).
While we made up time in the flight, we had to wait for the Feds to board & get them off.
I wonder if they’ll ever be allowed back into the country?
Time for sleep – if I ever get home.
Also I was sitting next to a young school teacher who was very shaken with the whole thing… she was glad I was her barrier.
As they were being taken off the plane I asked her if she wanted a selfie as a joke to lighten the mood. We didn’t, but others did.
