Well, it’s almost all sorted. It’s been about 6 months in the planning, but I think I’ve finally got it worked out. I do have to remember though, a plan is just a plan and is subject to change. While I think I have a good estimate for hours/day and KM/day of riding, I’m prepared to go with the flow.
Outbound… I’ve decided to roughly hug the coastline, with some occasional touristy stops along the way, minimising doubling back and major detours where possible. This makes for a total of approximately 3960 Google KMs from Perth WA to Middleton SA.

Return…I figured I’d more than likely just want to get home, so this route is as direct as it can be, with sufficient meandering in the Barossa at the start, and a slight detour through York as I get near Perth. While not showing on this map, I am considering a 450km detour through the Flinders Ranges north of Port Augusta, but I’ll see how the bum feels first. This is about 1000km shorter than outbound.
